Bayer Animal Health launches Baymix® Latibon®Plus ME in Thailand

Bangkok, March 4, 2010 – The Animal Health Business Group of Bayer Thai Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of Baymix® Latibon®Plus ME, an innovative livestock nutrition product that improves digestibility, gut health and feed hygiene. The modular base of the acidifier Baymix® Latibon®Plus ME is a balanced combination of formic, lactic and citric acid. Finished with phosphoric acid and a complex of essential oils the additive optimizes the buffering capacity of the feed, thereby protecting livestock against diarrhea and supporting key performances factors for a healthy growth in young animals.

The launch is part of Bayer Animal Health’s previously established regional licencing agreement with Dr. Eckel GmbH, a leading German company with expert knowledge in alternative feed additives and supportive applications. Under the terms of this agreement Bayer Animal Health already markets and distributes the product in Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan and Malaysia. “With the introduction of Baymix® Latibon®Plus ME in Thailand, we expand our livestock portfolio by providing customers with a best in class, scientifically proven feed additive”, said Dr. Ernst Boettcher, General Manager of Bayer Thai’s Animal Health Business Group, at the occasion of the Victam Asia trade show in Bangkok, where the launch was announced.

Animal nutrition is a growing segment in the division’s portfolio for the region. “Leveraging on Bayer’s expertise in veterinary pharmaceuticals we plan to further extend our market presence with innovative and effective animal nutrition products. I am convinced, that feed additives and other scientific solutions to support the livestock industry will continue to play an important role”, Dr. Boettcher resumes.

In Thailand the total value of the Animal Health market is around 17 billion baht. The share of the feed additive market values around 5,000 million baht. Bayer Thai’s Animal Health Business Group is very proud to introduce the new animal performance enhancer, Baymix® Latibon®Plus ME, to support the feed additive industry. The product is available in 25 kg bag. It is easy to handle and to apply synergistic mixture of different components including micro- encapsulated organic acids. Its inclusion in the feed formula improves the gut health in livestocks. The product has an outstanding palatability to the animal and leaves no residues in the tissue, hence it is another milestone towards food safety. This technology leading feed additive initially has been developed for the European market where it meanwhile is a standard used in different feeds. Baymix® Latibon®Plus ME is produced from Germany and first launched in 2009. It is available in major European markets.
